Dark Oak Flooring from Hackworth Sawmill
Character Oak, Dark Oak Stained, Pre-finished

Character Grade Oak Flooring with a Dark Oak Stain,
Apart from Brown Oak, which is rare and found mainly in very old trees and caused by a fungus which rises up from
the base, the natural colour of oak is generally light. Although oak will darken in time as it is exposed to light, this
is a very lengthy process and so traditionally a dark oak finish, found often in furniture and old flooring, is achieved
by staining. This can be done relatively easily in situ once the oak floor has been fitted by applying a dark oak stain with a
brush or a cloth, and then finishing the floor with a suitable sealer. Alternatively it can be done at the sawmill
saving the customer considerable time and mess.
For those who want an even darker colour, we can offer Jacobean Oak.
